Welcome to my new blog! I’m moving my Websites in Education blog here, in order to have a better forum for sharing thoughts and links with and for our teachers and librarians.
I’m fascinated by how all the new “web 2.0″ tools–tools that allow sharing knowledge with a community–will affect schools and libraries, specifically.
We have glimmers of the not so distant future that our students will be a part of.
Joel (our CTC) shared a perfect example of that with me yesterday–Yackpack.
Yackpack is web software that works as a cross between a blog and a virtual tape recorder. You can record conversations and piece together an interview with each part recorded at a different time! It’s similar to a blog, but hearing the voices of the contributors. It has so many possibilities for research projects and the classroom, plus it is EASY technology to use because it doesn’t have to be installed!
What curriculum uses could this have? How does being able to do interviews long distance affect students? How does this affect other things we teach in the future(like typing!)
