Thanks to Susan at What Counts for sharing this.  I wonder what technology item today will seem mystifyingly easy one hundred years from now?

  1. Desk-pounding funny. Great timing….I really needed the boost you get from laughter.

  2. I showed this to my sons last night and they were very amused. It reminded me of my initial response to computers and new programs: I wanted to know exactly what to do because I was afraid that pushing one wrong button would result in a catastrophic meltdown. Quite simply, I was afraid to make a mistake, and to really learn, you have to overcome that fear, you have to go outside your comfort zone and experiment. In the new global classroom, everyone is a teacher as well as a student. While I have been reading this blog since its inception, I have never submitted a comment. Posting this comment is my first step towards joining the global classroom as an active participant. As they say, the first step is always the hardest. I’m just thankful, I have Carolyn leading the way.

  3. Debby,

You’ve completely nailed it, I think. “Everyone is a teacher as well as a student.” Our students need to be producing information, not just consuming it. And in the flat, globally interconnected, technology-enabled world that we and our students are living in, we all need to get past the fear of making mistakes and actually participate. Congratulations on taking that first step.

I agree – you guys are lucky to have Carolyn leading the way.
