A video promo is a great way to publicize your library. A group of librarians in our district are meeting tomorrow to work on some video messages for our programs. But videos like these could be used on campus websites as well. Imagine energetic, amusing, enthusiastic video messages that convey what your campus is all about and create more of a dynamic sense of your campus on your website.
If we are excited about learning and about libraries, shouldn’t we show it? And shouldn’t we enlist our students to be a part of creating that message?
Here are a few idea starters, mostly from Gale’s Librareo contest submissions on YouTube. Quite a few of these use humor to make their message “sticky.”
This clever video is a way to demonstrate (humorously) the impact of a library:
Green Gables Elementary School Library–a former student sends a video love letter
Herrick Library–they don’t just tell about their services–they show them.
Library movie trailer–using humor to convey your message.
More humor from Irving Library
from Patrick Henry Library –students carry the message
This video below (my favorite) from Love Library in Jamestown, NY is brimming with energy:
And I had to include this classic –the Betty Glover Library Workout (this is strictly librarian humor
)
